Task Force on Academic Outcomes

Response to Intervention

During the Futures conference members of the working groups on academic outcomes spoke often of the yet-to-be-passed 2004 reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). There was a strong consensus that IDEA would be enhanced if it included ways for students to access additional instruction to prevent learning difficulties rather than wait for them to happen.

Thanks to advocacy by many Futures conference participants as well as others, IDEIA 2004 included language about using RTI.
